Prophecy

Prophecy plays a crucial role, contributing to the spiritual growth, guidance, and encouragement of believers. It establishes a connection between God and His people, offering a glimpse into His divine plan and purpose.

1 Corinthians 14:3

"But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort."

Prophecy serves the purpose of building up, encouraging, and comforting believers. It is a means through which God communicates His guidance and assurance.

2 Peter 1:19-21

"And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things."

This passage emphasizes the reliability of prophecy as a light in darkness, and it underscores the divine origin of prophetic messages found in Scripture.

1 Thessalonians 5:19-21

"Do not quench the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good."

Believers are encouraged not to dismiss prophecy but to discern its validity. Testing and discernment help in recognizing and holding onto genuine prophetic messages.

Amos 3:7

"Surely the Sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets."

Prophecy is highlighted as a means through which God communicates His plans and intentions. It reveals God's will and prepares His people for what is to come.

Revelation 19:10

"For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

This verse underscores the central role of prophecy in bearing witness to Jesus. Prophecy helps believers understand and testify to the nature and purpose of Christ.

In summary, prophecy is deemed important for edifying and encouraging believers, providing divine guidance, and bearing witness to the truth of Jesus.
