Leaning On God

As humans, we've all experienced moments of uncertainty, fear, and weakness. In those moments, it's easy to feel like we're carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders.

But as Christians, we have a rock to lean on – God. The New Testament reminds us that God is our refuge, our strength, and our guide.

In this devotion, we'll explore what it means to lean on God, why we need to, and how we can do so.

What does it mean to lean on God?

Leaning on God means trusting in His power, wisdom, and love. It means acknowledging our limitations and surrendering our worries, fears, and burdens to Him.

In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus invites us to come to Him with our heavy loads and find rest in Him. This verse reminds us that God is not a distant observer but a loving Father who desires to share our burdens.

Why do we need to lean on God?

We need to lean on God because our strength is limited, and our wisdom is flawed. We can't navigate life's challenges on our own. But God's power and wisdom are infinite.

In 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, Paul writes about boasting in his weaknesses because Christ's power is made perfect in them. This passage shows us that our weaknesses are opportunities for God's strength to shine through.

How can we lean on God?

So, how can we lean on God? Here are a few ways:

1. Prayer: Cast your cares on Him in prayer (1 Peter 5:7). Be honest with God about your fears, worries, and doubts.

2. Meditation: Reflect on God's Word and promises (Joshua 1:8). Let Scripture guide your thoughts and calm your heart.

3. Surrender: Release your control and trust in God's sovereignty (Proverbs 3:5-6). Recognize that God is in control, even when life feels chaotic.

4. Community: Surround yourself with believers who can encourage and support you (Hebrews 10:24-25). Lean on Him with the help of His people.

Leaning on God is not a sign of weakness but a sign of wisdom. It takes courage to admit our limitations and surrender to God's power. As we lean on Him, we'll find strength, peace, and guidance in the midst of life's challenges. Remember, God is our rock, our refuge, and our guide. Let's lean on Him today and every day.
